Tribute for Saber

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of PSD SABER, who retired from the Calgary Police Service over a year ago. His human family sent this tribute to honour him.

“Saber came into our lives a little over a year ago. No dog has ever meant so much to us so quickly, Saber warmed his way into our hearts from day one. When we got him home he walked into the kitchen and smooth as silk jumped onto the counter and proceeded to check everything on it.

He took to retirement fairly well but some part of him couldn’t fully let go of his street job, he did try very hard though. Saber became a loyal companion to us and at times was quite the goof. I still wake up at 4:00 am for work expecting to see his chin on the bed, tail wagging, his internal clock was amazing. Nothing got his attention like a ball or toy, he lived to destroy everything he got; his jaw was like a hydraulic press, crushing and popping everything he got. Saber would follow my wife everywhere and she felt very safe with him out in the neighbourhood. When I got home he was my shadow, Saber was definitely a man’s dog. He had to leave us way too soon and miss him terribly.

We feel honoured to have had time with Saber and we know he had a very happy carefree retirement.

Kelly and Steve”

While your Earthly watch is over, you are watching over us from the Heavens above.

Rest in Peace Saber.
