We at Ned’s Wish are deeply moved and profoundly grateful for a truly remarkable donation of $7800, a beautiful tribute of $100 for each of Susan Kay Larson’s 78 years. Though we at Ned’s Wish regret never having had the privilege of meeting Susan, we feel that she embodied a spirit of service and dedication, and we wanted to share her story.
The daughter of U.S. Army Colonel Cader C. Terrell, who served his country during WWII and beyond, Susan was a beacon of love and strength. A devoted mother to Holly and Brooke, a grandmother to Cassidy, and a cherished friend to many. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Roswell, NM, just before the “alien landing,” Susan lived a life filled with passion. As a creative and dedicated primary school teacher with Durham Ontario Catholic District School Board, she ignited a love of learning in countless children. “Your mom was an amazing teacher who could make any child read because of her passion and kindness,” reminisced someone who had the privilege to know Susan.
She was also an energetic activist for animal rights and various human issues, always standing up for what she believed in. Her words to live by, “Instead of complaining about things, do something about it – take action,” resonate deeply with our mission. We promise, Susan, that we will honour your memory by continuing to support retired police and military service dogs.
This incredible donation, made by David Bronfman, will make a significant difference in the lives of these heroes. David, we are truly touched by your kindness and generosity for choosing to honour Susan’s legacy in this meaningful way. Your thoughtfulness and support will allow us to continue our work, honoring the spirit of Susan Kay Larson.
