Ace, Regimental #871

PSD Ace

Ace was born on Aug. 29, 2008 at the Innisfail Kennels in Alberta. He spent his career working for the RCMP with S/Sgt. Ron Field. He was involved in lots of tracking and detection work before he moved over to the provincial side of the RCMP where he assisted with many search and rescue calls. Ace retired after 6 ½ years of police work.

Ace then worked in search and rescue with Deb Drozda, a civilian handler, for a year. After he was done searching and rescuing he became a provincially certified PTSD dog under the BC Guide and Service Act. Recently, Abbotsford police lost a member of their family on duty. Many members within the Chilliwack area worked and knew Cst. Davidson. When the devastating news hit, Ace provided the support for those members in need as he went to work daily with this handler as a PTSD dog. Ace also provided support to a member of the RCMP family who recently died of cancer. This person lost his shepherd weeks before going into the hospital. Ace used to lie beside him in his hospital bed.

Ace has lived with colitis his entire life and is on daily medication. He is also experiencing the onset of arthritis and continues to swim on a regular basis to help with his joints. Despite his ailments he is a happy and loving guy. He’s very talkative and is reported to answer every question with grunts.
