Jago, Regimental #1056

PSD Jago was born at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Center on July 17th, 2016 and was raised by Cst. Stefan Moxness in Surrey, B.C. PSD Jago graduated training in March, 2018 with Cst. Jamie Dopson of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services and served there until August 2020 where he then transferred to High Prairie, Alberta with his second partner, Cpl. Scott MacLeod. PSD Jago served in the Western Alberta District until June 17th, 2021 where he was shot and killed while on duty by an armed suspect. On that date, PSD Jago sacrificed himself, saving the life of his partner Cpl. MacLeod as well as three cover officers while conducting a high risk track.

PSD Jago tracked and located several missing people in need of help over his career and located evidence crucial to investigations on numerous occasions. Outside of being a police dog, PSD Jago loved to roll around in the cold snow and would fetch sticks for what seemed to be an eternity. PSD Jago will not only be remembered as a courageous Police Dog but also as a beloved family member, partner and playful puppy at heart.
