Farouk, Regimental #1007

Farouk, Regimental #1007

PSD Farouk was born on September 23, 2013 at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre. Throughout his career he worked in E Division and H division. He retired on October 20, 2020.

Farouk had many achievements throughout his career. In April 2020, Farouk and his handler were called out to assist with the manhunt for Canada’s mass murder suspect along with other PSD teams and ERT. Eventually, he was deployed to search for a firearm that was hidden in a heavily wooded area that a wounded RCMP member had hidden. He had hidden it to prevent the suspect from potentially using the firearm. Farouk successfully located it. He was a very talented tracker.
Farouk absolutely loved life and his family. He enjoyed running with a Kong ball in his mouth when exercising. He would take any opportunity he could to jump into the front passenger seat of the work vehicle when there was a code three. Another reason that Farouk loved being up front was so that he could kiss his handler as many times as he could while driving!

Farouk passed away on October 25, 2020, just five days after his retirement. He was struck by a vehicle and passed immediately. He has been described as a very loyal, loving dog who was passionate about work and absolutely loved to play. His eyes would be filled with excitement whenever his handler came to his kennel to go to work or even for a walk. He will be missed by his human family forever.
