Ruger was born in Innisfail, Alberta on April 1st, 2005. He was posted to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary with his Handler, Cst. Morgan. The two were later posted to St. John’s, where Ruger worked for the remainder of his career.
Ruger was passionate about his job as a Police Service Dog, and couldn’t wait to do what he loved most – chase down the bad guys! Sometimes this enthusiasm and blind determination got the best of him, though. On more than one occasion, he ran head first into a glass door because he was so excited to begin his pursuit! Glass doors couldn’t phase Ruger though, and neither could anything else. He was determined, fearless, and always ready for anything a bad guy could throw at him!
He enjoyed a lovely retirement in Corner Brook, with a lovely owner who took wonderful care of him in his remaining years.
Sadly, Ruger has passed away. He will never be forgotten and we will always be grateful for his lifetime of heroic service and devotion to keeping us all safe.
