Sarka is a Belgian Malinois who was born on Dec. 13, 2006 in Regina, Sask. She was an explosive detection dog with the Calgary Police from September 2009 to April 2017 with her partner Cst. Darcy Williams. One of her regular duties was attending the Calgary International Airport to make sure all travellers were kept safe.
During her almost eight year career, Sarka was called upon to conduct several searches for high=profile events to ensure the safety of the citizens of both Calgary and Edmonton. In 2009 she took part in searching McMahon Stadium in preparation for the 97th Grey Cup and again in 2011, to prepare for the NHL Heritage Classic game between the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens.
Sarka loves to play fetch and won’t stop until she’s ready! If she isn’t finished playing, she’ll drop the ball at your feet and bark until she can fetch again. for long periods of time. When she’s not playing a game of fetch she enjoys meeting new people, especially children. If you ever get the chance to meet Sarka you will know she likes you when she rolls onto her back for a belly scratch.
