Arrow, Regimental #962

Arrow, Regimental #962

Have you ever observed a human and a dog work in perfect harmony?  Well, meet recently retired duo PSD Arrow and his RCMP handler Cpl James McCarthy.  We at Ned’s Wish had the privilege of observing Arrow and Cpl McCarthy during their training exercise in Innisfail, which they routinely attended along with the rest of PSD teams in Alberta.  Arrow & Jim were so in sync with each other that you would have thought that they had ESP!  In comparison to other teams, neither Arrow nor his handler were the biggest or the most energetic but, Arrow and Cpl McCarthy were the fastest team to perform a challenging track training.  PSD Arrow could almost predict what Cpl McCarthy was going to ask him to do, and he did it with grace and efficiency of a cheetah.  You could feel the energy flowing between Cpl McCarthy and Arrow through the long line.  Simply mind blowing performance for these two superheroes!

Arrow was born in Innisfail on December 13, 2012 and he worked the entirety of his career in Red Deer and the surrounding area, serving the communities in Central Alberta for 9 years. Arrow was trained to detect explosives and served at numerous VIP events across Canada. Arrow was teamed with Cpl James McCarthy for all of his service and it shows! They are a pair made for each other.

In his retirement, Arrow is enjoying sleeping on the bed, a well deserved reward for years of service and physically demanding work.  Arrow suffers from several medical conditions for some of which he gets medications. As an eleven-year-old, this magnificent German Shepherd is easing into his golden years and enjoying hanging out with his best friend, Jim, who also recently retired from the RCMP.  As Arrow is just about to celebrate his 11th birthday on December 13th, we would like to wish him a very happy birthday and welcome him to Ned’s Wish!
