PSD Bailey served the Toronto Police Service as a General Purpose Police Service Dog for approximately eight years. Throughout her career, she worked alongside her handler protecting the community and carrying out the demanding responsibilities expected of a police K9.
In 2024, Bailey’s life took an unexpected turn when her handler suddenly went on medical leave. Toronto Police Service needed to find Bailey a retirement home quickly. At the time, little information was available about her career beyond her date of birth and service profiles, but one thing was certain—Bailey had dedicated years of loyal service and deserved a loving retirement.
Fortunately, Cory and Ann Marie Parrish stepped forward.
The Parrish family had recently experienced the loss of Cory’s former K9 partner, PSD Cezar #8510 of the Ontario Provincial Police. Despite their grief, they opened their hearts and home to Bailey, giving her the opportunity to enjoy the retirement she had earned.
It didn’t take long for Bailey to settle into her new role.
Today, Bailey has retired from police work and fully embraced a life of comfort, relaxation, and family adventures. Her days are spent supervising sunbeams, conducting thorough snack inspections, testing the quality of orthopedic dog beds, accompanying her family to camp, and ensuring everyone follows proper nap-time procedures.
By all accounts, Bailey won the Doggie Lottery.
Whether she’s soaking up the sunshine, relaxing in her harness on her favourite arthritis bed, or spending time with the people who adore her, Bailey is living proof that every working dog deserves a happy and comfortable retirement.
After eight years of service, Bailey has traded patrols for pillows, suspects for snacks, and shift work for sunshine—and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
