Welcome to retired PSD Brando, Ned’s Wish newest recruit from the Vancouver Police Department! Brando is not new at being a celebrity. In 2018, Brando gained internet fame from a calendar photo shoot where he was wearing sunglasses and sitting in the driver’s seat of a police car. When he wasn’t modeling, Brando was also an accomplished athlete. In 2016, he took a Bronze medal in the Canadian Police Trials, which are the police dog olympics. In these trials he performed tracking, building searches, area searches, obedience, agility, and criminal apprehension.
Brando served the people of Vancouver and the surrounding area as a patrol canine and explosive detection dog. In 2018, he helped to secure TED Talks by conducting explosive sweeps during the week-long event. The same year, Brando captured a violent offender, who was suspected in a string of robberies ranging from Kamloops to Whistler. The suspect ran from the arrest location and hijacked a vehicle from a gas station. Brando was able to track him anyway and caught up in the middle of an intersection during rush hour and took down the suspect. We aren’t kidding! This is the stuff the movies are made of!
Since retiring in 2020, Brando continues to pretend he is at work by barking at everyone who comes to the house before greeting them with an exuberant sniff of their nether regions. Brando likes to follow around his 1.5 yr old sister, who he sees as a mobile treat dispenser.
