Jace is a German Shepherd who was born on December 14th, 2016 at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta. It was quickly recognized that Jace had a gift for detection, and he was subsequently trained in the field of narcotics detection, where he graduated with honours.
Following graduation, Jace spent 6 years successfully working in the Kamloops, BC area. A commercial vehicle was intercepted during a routine traffic stop, and the driver was detained on suspicion of possession for the purposes of trafficking. During the detention, Jace was deployed to search the semi-truck and its trailer. Jace gave a positive indication on the semi-truck, which subsequently led to the driver’s arrest. A subsequent search revealed over one million dollars in drug-tainted currency. You didn’t mess with Jace!
Jace is a tank and sometimes does not know his own strength. While running off-leash attempting to pursue some deer, he ran straight into a small dead tree that was still standing and toppled it. Ol’ Jace looked pretty confused, apparently wondering how that tree had jumped out in front of him! Jace is still a puppy at heart and continues to love tossing his toys or any sticks he can find in the area. Chasing a ball and playing fetch is still high on his list of favourite hobbies. Happy retirement Jace!!
