Judge, Regimental #1082

Ned’s Wish wants to introduce a tail-wagging tale of PSD Judge, a Christmas miracle with a nose for justice and a heart of gold!

Born on December 25th, 2016, amidst the snowy splendor of Innisfail, Alberta, Judge entered the world ready to follow in the paw prints of RCMP legends. But our big, handsome German Shepherd had a secret: despite his imposing stature, he was a lover, not a fighter. Turns out, biting bad guys just wasn’t his cup of kibble.

After some valiant attempts, the RCMP brass realized Judge’s talents lay elsewhere. This gentle giant had a nose that could sniff out trouble a mile away! Enter Sergeant Gregg Calibaba, the mastermind behind the Roving Traffic Unit in E Division, who saw Judge’s potential. And in November 2018, the dynamic duo graduated from Specialty Drug Dog training, ready to take on the world, or at least, E Division, from their base in Kamloops, B.C.

For five glorious years, PSD Judge and Sgt. Calibaba patrolled the highways and byways of British Columbia, even venturing up to Whitehorse for a special mission. Judge’s career was a whirlwind of successful searches, with a highlight reel that would make any canine proud.  Judge was a master tracker, his nose leading to countless successful finds. He was responsible for the seizure of hundreds of thousands of dollars in illicit drugs and currency.  One of his most significant busts occurred on March 28th, 2022, near Valemount, B.C. A speeding rental car with two suspicious individuals was stopped. Judge’s keen sense led to a positive hit, and a staggering $150,000 in Canadian currency was seized! This was just one example of his exceptional searching abilities.

Judge’s nose was a force to be reckoned with, regardless of the weather or terrain. He was a true professional, always ready to put his skills to work.

PSD Judge retired in April 2023, and he’s making the most of his golden years. He’s traded in his patrol car for a comfy couch and his duty belt for a mountain of toys! Judge is a toy hoarder extraordinaire! Bones and Kongs disappear into his personal stash, much to the chagrin of his German Shepherd brother. He likes to keep them all between his legs, or under him.  Judge is also a master of procrastination. When he doesn’t want to wear his collar for a walk (especially when other dogs are around), he’ll turn his head and pretend his dad doesn’t exist. Those puppy-dog eyes work every time!
