Welcome PSD Kal! 🎉🐾
PSD Kal, a handsome 9-year-old shepherd born in Slovakia, began his career with the Medicine Hat Police Service before joining the Prince Albert Police Service in 2019. For five years, Kal worked side by side with Cst. Brown, providing backup and reassurance to every member on shift.
Trained as a patrol dog, PSD Kal specialized in tracking human scent and proved his skills in high-risk cases—such as an armed robbery where he tracked a suspect through multiple distractions and properties, ultimately locating the individual hiding in a dark treeline. Without PSD Kal, the suspect may never have been found.
On his final shift, PSD Kal demonstrated his courage once again. Dispatched to a weapons complaint, he chased an armed suspect mid-flight, preventing access to a firearm and ensuring the suspect was safely secured.
PSD Kal is social, full of energy, and loves neck scratches. His favorite toy? His Kong ball—which he is never seen without! With no major health concerns, Kal will now enjoy endless games of fetch, splashing his Kong ball in the water or digging for it through snow and leaves.
