Born in January 2022 at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre, Rip launched into life like a furry rocket. He kicked off his career in Kelowna, BC, where he partnered with CPL Devin Esquirol to serve and protect—with intensity, determination, and a solid amount of tail-wagging.
Rip is handsome, high-energy, and high-drive—basically the James Bond of the K9 world, but with more charisma. In his short but impactful career, he helped track down suspects involved in property crime and stolen vehicles, and even climbed steep, dangerous terrain to find a suicidal individual, helping save a life with his powerful nose and even bigger heart.
But don’t worry—this hero knows how to party. He is completely obsessed with ball rewards and will put on the performance of a lifetime just to earn his precious prize. At home, Rip is still figuring out how not to bulldoze through furniture like it’s an obstacle course. He’s basically a bull in a china shop with four legs and zero brakes—but we love that for him. And hey, he’s starting to learn that walls are not, in fact, optional.
Rip’s love language? Edible. If it can be chewed, he’s into it.
And believe it or not, amidst the chaos, Rip has a zen side. He’s shockingly graceful when it comes to dog yoga—especially his signature move: downward dog, which he executes like a furry little yogi who just found inner peace… for three seconds, before launching into his next zoomie.
Sadly, Rip was struck with an unknown illness that forced him into early medical retirement before he could fully unleash his potential. But true to form, Rip is handling it like a champ—managing his condition and embracing retirement like it’s his new full-time job (benefits include belly rubs, treats, and unlimited ball time).
We’re sending all our love and support to Rip and his human family. Here’s to a long, happy, and slightly chaotic retirement, filled with squeaky balls, tasty snacks, and downward dogs for days.
Welcome to Ned’s Wish, Rip—you may be retired, but your legend is just getting started. 💙🐾
