The team at Ned’s Wish is PAWsitively thrilled to welcome PSD Silver to retirement!
Silver is a silver Labrador Retriever, born February 12, 2017, in Washington, U.S. He proudly served with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) beginning in 2018, alongside his partner, Cst. Daralan Hubbard.
For eight years, Silver worked as an explosive detection dog, helping keep the travelling public safe throughout Metro Vancouver. During his career, he conducted thousands of proactive and operational searches in and around the transit system. His calm temperament, exceptional work ethic, and unwavering reliability made him a trusted partner and an invaluable member of the Transit Police K9 Unit.
Silver’s dedication to his work was evident throughout his career. Most recently, he became certified in vapor detection, further expanding his capabilities in preparation for the FIFA World Cup. His willingness to continue learning and adapting late in his career is a wonderful testament to his drive, intelligence, and commitment to his work.
While Silver may have had a serious job, he certainly doesn’t take his retirement duties too seriously! He has always been a big fan of attention and isn’t shy about asking for it. If someone is busy typing a report, Silver is more than happy to offer a gentle nose nudge — usually followed by a very clear request for scratches. Work can wait; Silver needs attention!
Despite his impressive working-dog résumé, Silver is a big cuddler at heart and simply loves being close to his people.
After eight years of loyal service, Silver leaves behind an incredible legacy of dedication, countless searches, and many hours spent helping protect his community.
Now, he has officially sniffed out his next assignment: retirement.
The new job description is pretty straightforward: fewer explosives, more treats, unlimited scratches, plenty of naps, and unrestricted access to anyone attempting to get some work done. We have a feeling Silver is more than qualified.
