Welcome to Ned’s Wish –Xena the retired Calgary police PSD warrior princess.
Xena, a 10-year-old Dutch Shepherd, dedicated seven years to serving and protecting the City of Calgary as a Police Service Dog. Her career began in 2018, and throughout her service, she apprehended hundreds of offenders and later transitioned into a specialized role as a drug detection dog alongside her handler, Cst. Avery.
One of Xena’s most remarkable achievements was tracking two robbery suspects for over seven blocks—despite multiple civilians in the area—demonstrating her unwavering focus and exceptional skill. In her drug detection role, Xena’s remarkable nose uncovered a hidden compartment that led to multiple charges against a prolific trafficker.
Xena is extremely noticed to work to protect the city of Calgary, but at home loves to cuddle and lay in the sun. The definition of work hard and play hard!
She has faced health challenges including having all her lower front teeth removed, plyomitra conducted on her and she has joint issues that limit her back right leg. As part of the Ned’s Wish pack, Xena will continue to receive the care and comfort she deserves in her well-earned retirement.
