Retired PSD Endzo needs a helping PAW

Endzo’s career took him from serving the people of Edmundston, Woodstock and Fredericton, and he even found time to join the RCMP! His intense drive and dedication made him a highly valued police dog, but also took a significant toll on his body.

Police dogs tend to have hip, back, teeth and foot problems and since retirement Endzo has suffered from them all. Recently, the foot problems are seriously impacting Endzo’s well-earned retirement. First, his front right paw became painful and impacted his ability to walk. Upon examination, he was diagnosed with a missing quick which had become infected and his veterinarian recommended the affected to be amputated due to the risk of cancer. The toe was removed and while recovering from that surgery another toe on a hind leg was found to be abnormal. Lab tests confirmed cancer. Just when Endzo was finally in a place when he could leap and run for fun… a second toe was amputated.

The good news is the type of cancer in Endzo’s toes doesn’t usually spread to other parts of the body; the bad news is it’s also unusual for 2 toes on different paws to be affected. So Endzo is undergoing a thorough cancer screening and we have our fingers and toes crossed for him.

Endzo is recovering from his surgeries and enjoying his favourite stuffed toy, which is as big as he is! He’s a lovely boy who is also much loved, even when he howls at fire truck sirens.

Since Endzo’s retirement his medical bills amounted to almost $5000.00, and to ensure we can continue to support him and other Retired Heroes through their golden years we need your help. Please donate to Ned’s Wish to help pay for Endzo’s life saving treatment and to prolong the life of this hero and many other heroes. Stay strong Endzo!
