It is the fervent hope of everyone involved in Ned’s Wish that our canine heroes enjoy a long and healthy retirement.  Sadly, sometimes fate has other plans.  It is therefore with sadness that we share the news that our newest pack member, Jolt, has joined Ned and our other Fallen Heroes.

Jolt was more than just a loyal police dog; she was a steadfast companion and best friend to her handler, Cpl. Zinn. Her loyalty and unwavering commitment to her duties were admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside her. Jolt began her distinguished career with the RCMP in Innisfail and served with dedication in Cranbrook, the Lower Mainland, and Manitoba. For seven years, she fearlessly protected her community.

Jolt was known for her incredible tracking abilities and unwavering determination. One of her standout achievements was tracking two murder suspects, which led to their capture and the discovery of crucial evidence. Her keen abilities were instrumental in solving the case, as evidence and suspect location might have remained hidden without her.

But Jolt was also a dog with a big heart. She was involved in helping raise money for charity events by rappelling from roofs wearing a Superman costume!  She also participated in countless school talks and presentations, inspiring kids who would later write her letters of appreciation.

In 2024, Jolt and Cpl. Zinn received a prestigious medal for saving a woman’s life. During a search and rescue operation in the woods, Jolt’s keen senses enabled her to locate an injured woman. Cpl. Zinn provided crucial medical attention until the woman was airlifted to the hospital. Their teamwork and quick action were vital in this life-saving mission.

Jolt will be deeply missed by Cpl. Zinn and all who knew her. Thank you for your service, Jolt. Run free.
