Mojo, Regimental #158

With a huge round of applause, Ned’s Wish is excited to welcome the incredible PSD Mojo! This German Shepherd, born on the 4th of July 2020 in Germany, came to Canada with a mission: to be a top-notch police dog. With badge number 158 (his handler’s, of course), he joined the Truro Police Service and spent four fantastic years keeping the community safe.

PSD Mojo was part of the Halifax Regional Police K9 unit, getting excellent training from Corporal Scott Milbury and Constable Cameron Baker. Mojo isn’t just a dog; he is a master tracker and a true hero. One memorable moment was when he tracked a suicidal individual who had vanished into the woods. Despite terrible weather and a busy area, Mojo followed a kilometer-long trail and found him, saving a life. Another time, during a vehicle check, a suspect fled into a pitch-black, hurricane-damaged forest. Mojo, with his amazing nose and determination, navigated the difficult terrain and found the suspect hiding amongst fallen trees. And during a morning rush hour robbery, Mojo tracked the suspect through a busy urban area, ignoring all the distractions, allowing for a successful and safe arrest of the suspect.

When Mojo is not working, he shows off his personality and his funny quirks. When the truck door opens, he gives his handler a big hug, wrapping his paws around their head. Mojo loves to howl along with sirens, and when it’s food time, he gets so excited he does zoomies in his kennel. Even without food, he jumps up high to say hello.

PSD Mojo is now retiring, but he will be moving in with another officer with the Halifax Regional Police, ensuring he stays within the K9 family and will continue providing moral support to the police families and community around. Mojo’s story is a shining example of the dedication and incredible abilities of police dogs. He is a loyal partner, a brave hero, and a wonderful friend. Ned’s Wish would like to give a warm welcome to the retired legend, PSD Mojo!
