SD Mando is a 5-year-old German Shepherd Hero from the Vancouver Police Department, where he served since 2021. Mando is a fun loving, extremely energetic pooch, with a strong willingness to work and people please. With only 4 years of service Mando has had an intense career with several captures and arrests within the City of Vancouver.
On one call for service Mando engaged with a violent drug enforcer who had just assaulted his girlfriend. During the arrest the suspect bit Mando’s ear and penetrated it leaving a hole. The wound did not deter Mando, who stayed in the fight until the suspect was placed into custody.
On PSD Mando’s last shift he located a suspect who seriously assaulted an officer. The suspect had fled the scene and attempted to evade the police on a patio. Mando tracked the suspect and engaged him. A brief struggle ensued, and the suspect attempted to fight Mando. Mando undeterred again, assisted with placing another violent suspect into custody.
At 5 years old, and 4 years of service with the Vancouver Police Department Mando has more than earned his retirement. He will be taking it easy as he has mild bilateral hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis.
Welcome to Ned’s Wish Mando!
